ROB MITCHELL MP
Biography

Rob lives near Broadford with his family, Lisa and Rachael, and has spent most of his adult life living in McEwen. He loves the area and thinks it is one of Australia's best places to live.

Ever since he worked as an RACV mechanic helping drivers on Victorian roads, Rob Mitchell has played a hands-on role in our community.

He takes the view that his job is to improve people's lives in whatever way he can, whether that is delivering police stations at Wallan, Kinglake and Broadford, the natural gas extension to Whittlesea-Yarra Glen and the Upper Yarra, or clear TV reception to Broadford and the surrounding communities.

Rob has passionately devoted himself to assist the many families affected by the Black Saturday bushfires in 2009 that devastated the local community.

Rob has an extensive background in both industry and government. After nearly 20 years in the transport industry he became the first Labor member elected to the Victorian Legislative Council seat of Central Highlands in 2002. In 2006, the seat was abolished and in 2007, Rob stood as Labor's candidate for McEwen. Rob was narrowly defeated by just 31 votes in that election.

Rob stood again in 2010 as Labor's candidate because is committed to providing a strong voice for the local community in Julia Gillard's Government.
